Where do we start? I guess at the beginning! My husband and I bantered around the idea of selling our condo at the beginning of 2021. Over the first lockdown of the pandemic, I was binge watching HGTV, and we both had an understanding - we need to put our best attempt when we first go to market. He had been following Stephanie for a while on social media. He had come to appreciate her hustle and know-how of the City. We discussed it and decided she was going to be the realtor we chose to represent us. We met with her, and she agreed that our condo was in need of some sprucing but not a major overhaul. She walked in and saw what we loved about the place, and who the potential market is. She has contacts in the trades, for example, if you don’t have someone to refinish floors - she’s “got a guy.” She also helped us keep on track as this was a type of project neither of us navigated before. We had originally listed our home in July of 2013 with a high profile agent in Chicago (you have probably seen many of his ads). Our Condo was a 3 bedroom 3 bath duplex down that had great space, lots of storage, and needed maybe a little updating in the kitchen. The biggest issue for most buyers was that the condo building was right next to the EL tracks. Our first agent normally sent one of his junior realtors to our showings/open houses and these agents were not able to work with buyers around the issue of the train. While this agent charged a lower commission, the personal service to both us and building relationships with the buyers was almost non-existent. We eventually rented out condo out since we couldn't sell it in a timely manner. This past November, as our renters were set to move out, we decided to list again. Stephanie was recommended to us by a couple of friends, including a friend whose condo she put under contract just a few weeks before ours. Stephanie is no nonsense when it comes to selling. Her commission rate was higher than what we had in the past but I can tell you she is more than worth it. Since we were no longer living in Chicago, Stephanie helped us with staging our condo, and even brought over many touches out of her own home to make it look nice for buyers. She developed very close relationships with buyers agents and the buyers. She could speak to many of the objections buyers had, including overcoming the train issue that our previous realtor could not seem to overcome.
